A sport and solidarity Sunday organized by Marco Dalla Dea and Giovanni Cecolin’s agency in favor to two pediatric non-profit organizations of Padua.
1,640 runners, 2 tracks to choose between (5 and 10 km), over 16,000 euro collected: these are the numbers of the first edition of SMILE RUN, the non-competitive, charity run that took place yesterday, 8th September, in Prato della Valle (Padua), on the initiative of YAK Agency e Charity Running ASD, with the support of Pam Panorama Spa, Antenore Energia, Alifax and McFIT. A yellow wave of people of all ages and levels of preparation took part in this sport and charity event, donating 10 euro (the subscription fee) to contribute to the smile of children affected by severe cancers and leukemias and support Team for Children e L’isola che c’è, two local non-profit organizations working in the Pediatric Oncology and Hematology Ward and in the Pediatric Hospice of Padua.
RUN, GADGETS AND FUN FOR EVERYONE The event, patronized by the Province of Padua, Municipality of Padua, Chamber of Commerce of Padua, Hospital of Padua, Volunteer Service Center of Padua, Croce Verde Padova and Padua Capital of Running, and part of the projects of Padua European Capital of Volunteering, was a chance of meeting and fun for everyone: children, young people and families. In addition to the race, they all had the chance to enjoy the music played by Radio Padova and the entertainment for children in the Smile Village since the afternoon. The first 1,500 participants received a special package with coupons, gadgets and snacks offered by the sponsors, in addition to the exclusive technical T-shirt, with one of the most famous works by Alessio-b, popular artist from Padua, printed on it.
RUN DOES GOOD The proceeds of the subscriptions to this sport and charity event have been donated to both organizations: 8,200 € to Team for Children Onlus, which collaborates with doctors and staff of the Pediatric Oncology and Hematology Ward of Padua to give a concrete help to the young patients and their families since 2009. Thanks to SMILE RUN, Team for Children will finance a new educational project conceived for adolescent patients; 8,200 € were donated also to L’isola che c’è Onlus: ideated by some parents of children followed at the Pediatric Hospice of Padua “Casa del bambino”, now its mission is realizing projects meant to improve the life quality of children and their families.
YAK Agency managed all the details of the race, from the organization to the management of the event on site, from art direction to the realization of all the communication materials. “We are really happy to have involved so many citizens in a joyful event in the heart of our city to contribute, all together, to a big charity objective - claim Giovanni Cecolin and Marco Dalla Dea, managing partners of the agency - “We have chosen to invest time and skills of our team to create an event that could combine sport and charity and put our work at the service of those who really need it”.
