PADOVA MERAVIGLIA

The Project

From September to October 2017 we have managed the contest “Padova Meraviglia” (Padua Wonder) promoted by Consorzio DMO (Destination Management Organization) Padova and by the media partner Il Mattino di Padova to present the identity of the city and promote it as a tourist destination. The contest, addressed to both amateur and professional photographers, citizens and tourists without any age or origin limitation, was meant to invite participants to upload a representative photo of Padua and its province on the official portal (for free), focusing for example on tradition, culture, landscape or architecture, and having “wonder” as main theme. At the same time a second contest was promoted, called “Spazio & Architettura” (Space and Architecture) and addressed to the students of the University of Padua.

Results

During the contest, which lasted one month, over 700 photos taken in Padua and its province were collected and published on the official portal http://www.padovameraviglia.it, then voted by over 2750 registered users, for a total of 3645 votes. The 12 selected photos were used tor the 2018 calendar of Il Mattino di Padova, in the year of the 40th anniversary of the newspaper. Following the success of the contest, the initiative was repeated in the provinces of Belluno and Venice and was promoted by some local newspapers belonging to the Finegil Group: “Il Corriere delle Alpi” and “La Nuova Venezia Mestre”, with the objective of collecting the best photos of the participants and create the office calendar of the newspapers.
